Kindergym Leader
Days: Tuesday 8:30am to 1pm Wednesdays 9am to 1pm
Sessions: 3 sessions on each Tuesday and Wednesday

Little Leapers Kindergym is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and reliable Kindergym leader to join our team in 2021. This exciting role will see you lead our 6 Kindergym sessions over two days. If you are new to the roll or an experienced Kindergym Leader we want you to join our tight knit community. We pride ourselves with delivering a welcoming, safe, fun and educational environment for our Little Leapers.

You will be responsible for delivering lesson and setup plans each week. We will assist with setup planning until a familiarity is formed with our equipment. You will be required to communicate with caregivers to create positive learning environment.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- Commitment to the gymnastics industry and be able to work unsupervised as a Kindergym Leader.
- Strong communication skills, in order to build rapport with and engage with children and their carers, with genuine interest in their growth and development.
- A sound understanding of the guiding principles of Kindergym and a keenness and ability to create exciting and educational programing to each session.

Required qualifications and attributes:
- Kindergym qualifications with Gymnastics Australia
- Current DHS Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid qualifications (or willingness to obtain on request)

THE ROLE

The Y is seeking Gymnastics Coaches to deliver excellent gym sports programs at the Glengowrie Gymnastics Centre. Gymnastics Coaches, reporting to the Head Coach, will:

  • Deliver a variety of Gym Sports programs with professionalism and care for participants
  • Interact with children positively and assist in the development of technique and skills
  • Be responsible for the safety of participants and equipment during programs
  • Provide excellent customer service to children and parent

YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • a national criminal history check;
  • an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • holding or obtaining a DHS Working With Children Check or equivalent in accordance with state or territory laws, if directed by YMCA South Australia; and
  • two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates will also have the following qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Certification & technical membership with Gymnastics South Australia (or equivalent)
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID001 Provide CPR certificate
  • Certificate of Completion for Responding to Abuse and Neglect (RAN) training

Candidates with the following skills will be highly regarded:

  • Previous experiencing delivering and coaching Gym Sports programs, especially:
    • Trampoline
    • Men's Artistic Gymnastics
    • Gymnastics for All

Women's Artistic Gymnastics / Gymnastics for All - Intermediate Coach

Required shifts:

WAG - Monday 4.30-7, Thursday 4- 7.30 & Saturday 12 - 3.30 - Level 3.
GFA - Tuesday 4-5

Programs

To write, coordinate and provide programs in collaboration with the head coach that meet the needs and the level of the athletes. Programs must meet standards that are set by the club, GSA and GA and are to reflect progress and safety. To monitor all programs in place and evaluate their effectiveness and progression on a regular basis

Services

To provide a safe, friendly and supportive environment to the athletes, parents/caregivers, other club members and volunteers. To provide and issue information on all aspects of the gymsport and other services offered by the club.

Knowledge

To have and provide technical knowledge on the following subjects up to and including international standards:

  • Skill development
  • Up to date knowledge on state and national level systems
  • Coach education
  • Requirements for state and national competitions
  • Gymsport safety
