National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities
The National Cabinet today considered and endorsed
National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities
, and agreed that the AIS-developed
Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment
provides a guide to staged resumption of sport and recreation activities. More context is provided in the Prime Minister’s remarks from this afternoon, available at
https://www.pm.gov.au/media/update-coronavirus-measures-1may20
Minister Wingard has indicated that SA currently sits at 'Category B' which means groups of 10 (1 coach and 9 athletes) can train together but must adhere to social distancing measures (1.5 metres). Further principles such as hygiene, non-sharing of equipment, exit and entry points to reduce contact and the like are outlined in the two above mentioned documents. Gymnastics SA are working closely with Sports SA and ORSR on the principles for gymnastics to resume.
Gymnastics SA will submit a proposal to gain permission for our clubs to restart, within these guidelines. This process will require adequate time to be assessed and endorsed. Activity is not to resume until information is reviewed and endorsed by ORSR. Gymnastics SA will then communicate with clubs on when, where and how we can all move forward.
