Exciting “Circus Themed” Day for Young Coaches

The 2021 Youth Development Series has come to an end! This year we ran two development days, the first in April with 12 coaches and the second in July with 20 coaches.

The Youth Development Series is aimed to help develop, nurture, and support our new generation of coaches. The following clubs were represented over the two days: Adelaide Tumbling Academy, CircoBats, Hub Gymnastics, Kadina & District Youth Club, Largs Bay RSL Gym Club, Queenstown Gymnastics, Port Lincoln Gymnastics Club, Seacliff Gymnastics and Tea Tree Gully Gymsports.

The second Youth Development Day on Monday 9 July was a wonderful success. Held at Circobats Community Circus, a great venue to learn and practise some new skills.

The morning started with a practical session on circus skills using handheld equipment. The group was soon laughing as they tried lots of new tricks using hoops, juggling pieces, spinning plates and flower sticks. The coaches from Circobats showed their great skills and the coaches new to circus had great fun learning new tricks they could teach back at their own gyms.

The day continued with theory sessions covering the important topics of staying safe in the “social media” world and planning lessons to be safe and successful.

The group then got moving again with a freestyle gymnastics/parkour inspired session before completing the day with acrobatics and fun beam progressions to give coaches new ideas and skills to add to their lesson plans.

Gymnastics SA would like to thank all the presenters who provided workshops.

Keep your eyes peeled for a 2022 Youth Development Series!
